Jesus of Nazareth is dead.

His followers have scattered.

And the same crowd that praised him as "king," "savior," "messiah" and "god" now cheer his brutal execution.

One man has watched everything unfold from the shadows....

Thaddeus.

The great scribe of Israel.

He has been careful to hide his identity and conceal his face.  Because he cannot be seen. Rather, he refuses to be seen....

By her...

Mary.

The mother of Jesus.

But why?

Why does one of the most powerful and influential men in all of Jerusalem harbor so much anger and resentment towards the mother of a crucified criminal?

Why do visions of Mary torment his thoughts and dreams?

Set in the darkest moments of the darkest day....

The hours after the crucifixion of Jesus....

This is....

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

MikeSummers1.jpg

Mike Summers was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois but now calls the Pacific Northwest home. After graduating from a Chicago public school at the age of 16, he received a Bachelors of Arts in History from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois in 1986 and his Juris Doctor from Northwestern University School of Law in 1990.

Mike spent the better part of the next three decades working as a corporate lawyer serving primarily small to mid-sized privately held companies.

Prior writings include a white paper on education technology and a blog focused on education reform. Other work includes the creation of websitesvideos and marketing collateral for himself and other clients.

But writing has always been his first passion. Rather than a lawyer who wrote, Mike always considered himself, first and foremost, a writer who practiced law.

The Darkest Day is his first novel.

REVIEWS FOR THE DARKEST DAY

Intense and deeply moving.

A complete surprise. I thought, what more is there to say about the life of Jesus? And yet, this was, in some ways, the most personal, most human, depiction of Jesus, Mary and the apostles I've ever read. These weren't just beatific saints from the Bible. These were real human beings struggling through an uncertain future and one of the darkest days of their lives.

Marcus, Portland, Oregon

I loved it. So emotional. So many tears.

Carol, Atlanta, Georgia

An impressive first novel. Beautifully written and surprisingly informative. I can't wait for Book Two!
